Throughout the 2024–2025 sports season, St. Paul’s athletics has found great success across a wide range of teams.
Starting with Varsity Soccer, the team has shown relentless determination to succeed in everything they do. Since 2023, they’ve captured back-to-back MIAA B Conference Championships, a testament to their hard work and focus.
Football also made history this year. The team took on the Lakers at Towson University and defeated them in impressive fashion—their first win over the Lakers since 2018. Not only did they bring home the trophy, but they also clinched a playoff berth for the first time in a decade. The student section was electric under the lights, and the postgame celebration—players joining fans in the stands—was a night to remember.
As the winter season arrived, basketball, squash, hockey, indoor track, and wrestling all excelled in their respective conferences, with several teams earning championship spots. Squash even advanced to the National Division III Tournament, securing a place among the top 35 teams in the country.
The hockey team, led by standout leadership from Mason Kaplin, Tucker Paxton, and Casey Burkum, along with freshman phenom Andrew “Brick Wall” Douglass in goal, finished with a 9-2-1 record. They capped off the season with a thrilling championship win against Loyola.
Basketball had an electrifying run of its own. Led by seniors Ben Lichter and Bryce Matthews—alongside a deep and talented roster—the team finished with a 13-3 record and made a strong playoff push all the way to the championship game.
Individual sports had plenty to celebrate as well. Wrestling wrapped up its season with a 4-4 record, placing third in their conference and sending multiple athletes to national competitions. Indoor Track braved the elements throughout the winter and saw their hard work pay off with several personal records and strong performances across meets.
Squash had a lights-out season, finishing second in conference with a 7-2 record. Toward the end of the season, the varsity team traveled to Philadelphia for the Division III National Tournament, where they placed fifth overall cementing their place among the top 35 teams in the nation.
As spring arrives, excitement builds around outdoor track, lacrosse, baseball, and tennis. Varsity lacrosse is in capable hands with captains Luke Bair, Jack Iannantuono, Roman Dodson, Jack Bowman, and goalie Josh Marson. On the baseball diamond, senior leaders Jeremiah Webert, Josh Matthews, Kobe Arrington, Lucas Wassel, and Evan Gebhardt are ready to guide the team forward.
With strong leadership, deep rosters, and unmatched school spirit, each spring team is poised to make its mark. St. Paul’s has plenty of excitement planned for fans this season—so get ready to cheer loud and often!
