“One Dance”, “God’s Plan”, “In My Feelings.” Those are just some of Drake’s number-one hits. Many believe Drake is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time), and there’s plenty of debate around it.
Drake is one of the most versatile rappers in hip-hop, blending R&B, dancehall, trap, and pop. His ability to adapt and stay relevant across different musical styles is unmatched. Songs like “TSU,” “God’s Plan,” and “No Friends in the Industry” show how he can switch from smooth beats to hard rap effortlessly.
Drake has remained at the top of the industry for over a decade. Starting his rap career in the late 2000s and still dominating today is similar to LeBron James’ longevity in basketball. His ability to evolve with hip-hop and still stay on top is impressive. The fact that he continues to release top-charting hits every year proves his staying power.
A great artist is measured by their accolades, and Drake has plenty. He holds records for the most charted songs, the most top 10 hits, and the most number-one hits. With 338 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, 78 in the top 10, and 13 number-one hits (tying with Michael Jackson), his career is far from over. He was also named Artist of the Decade for the 2010s.
Beyond music, Drake has influenced pop culture in many ways. His memes, like his “Anita-man-wynn” alter ego or the “Drake the type of guy” joke, have gone viral. His luxury streetwear brand, OVO (October’s Very Own), is valued at $750 million, and his Better World Fragrance House sells highly popular scented candles. Plus, he made “YOLO” a widely known phrase.
Drake has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including “Blessings” with Big Sean, “Work” with Rihanna, “Poetic Justice” with Kendrick Lamar, and “Light Up” with Jay-Z. His ability to work with artists from different styles shows his dominance in every part of the rap game.
Drake’s music also connects on an emotional level. A song like “Marvin’s Room” can make you feel heartbroken, while “Nonstop” pumps you up. His storytelling ability and emotional depth set him apart.
His fanbase is incredibly supportive, standing by him through everything. Whether it’s enjoying his livestream giveaways or tossing massive gifts onto the stage at his concerts, his fans are always engaged and excited.
At the end of the day, the GOAT debate is subjective. Even if you’re not a fan of Drake, it’s hard to deny his influence and legacy in hip-hop. His impact will be felt for years to come.
