On January 24, 2025, over 100 students (a record-breaking turn-out) gathered in the Ward Center to listen to comedy, guitar, and vocal performances from their peers.  This event is Coffeehouse, which takes place twice a year and is run by the Fine Arts Representatives from SP and SPSG.  The year the Fine Arts Reps are Grace Weible (‘25) and Davis Boyce (‘25).  The audience and performers were provided with drinks and snacks, including coffee and donuts.  

Part one of the night began with a performance from junior Charlotte Carroll (‘26) who sang “Gimme Gimme” from the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie.  Following that senior Nick Huppman (25’) sang a classical piece by Franz Schubert, “Wanderers Nachtlied.”  The SGA Vice President, Adela Weyhing (‘25) sang “I Hear You Say So” by The Innocence Mission and was accompanied on the guitar by her boyfriend, Joel Brackins.  Then, junior Haley Hopkins (‘26) performed by singing “Don’t Rain on my Parade” from the musical Funny Girl.  Next, sophomore Max Yurko (‘27) performed a jazz song called “Always” on the guitar by Lenny Breau.  Afterwards, a duet was performed by Charlotte Carroll (‘26) and sophomore Colin Fitzell (‘27) with Colin also playing the guitar to “Going Under,” a metal song by Evanescence.  Following this performance Colin Fitzell (‘26) played his electric guitar and sang the hard rock song “How You Remind Me” by Nickelback.  To conclude part one of Coffeehouse, senior David Nemec (‘25) produced a comedy routine which he titled “Jokes I am Doing” and was sure to make everyone laugh. 

After intermission junior Zsofia DeCheke (‘26) kicked off part two with a K-Pop song “Love Wins All” by IU and before singing gave a brief history of the song and its meaning.  Following that performance sophomore Gabby Jenkins (‘27) sang a pop rock song, “Fake Plastic Trees” by Radiohead.  Then, “It’s Over Isn’t It” from the musical Steven Universe was performed by junior Hemlock Genz (‘26).  Next, a duet was performed by senior Shannon Edwards (25’) and Josh Matthews (25’) to the song “Suddenly Seymour” from the musical Little Shop of Horrors.  Afterwards, sophomore Katherine Elburn (‘27) sang a pop song called “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane.  Following this performance, “All My Loving” by The Beatles was sung by sophomore Julianna Rocca (‘27).  Finally, Arts Reps Davis Boyce (‘25) and Gracie Weible (‘25) both performed solos while playing the guitar.  Davis sang and played the song “I’m The Man That Loves You” by Wilco, while Gracie sang and played the guitar to the song “No Caller ID” by country singer Megan Moroney.  To finish off the night, audience members and performers joined in a joyful moment of karaoke.
