After months of braving rain, snow, and sunshine to reach The Commons, SPSG finally unveiled its newest space. The long-awaited hallway connecting the Middle and Upper Schools officially opened after winter break. With gleaming white tile floors accented by vibrant green trim, the new addition brings exciting features, including new classrooms, a front office, modern bathrooms, and even a stock ticker lining the wall.
As a senior, this milestone has sparked a lot of reflection for me. When I joined SPSG as a fifth grader, I walked down the old hallway almost every day. Whether heading to Mrs. Smith’s science class, grabbing a bagel in The Commons, walking to prayers each morning, or stopping by The Swamp for a snack, that space became the backdrop for countless memories over the last eight years.
Now, seeing this new hallway come to life serves as a poignant reminder of my own journey. It’s bittersweet to think that while I’ve cherished so many moments within these walls, my time here is coming to an end. Yet, this change has also reminded me that memories don’tbelong to places; they belong to the people and experiences that make them special.
As my fellow seniors and I prepare to leave SPSG, I feel fortunate to have witnessed the beginning of this new chapter for the school. For the Class of 2032, this hallway will become part of their daily routine, whether it’s walking to prayers, grabbing a snack with friends in The Commons, or stopping by to chat with Mrs. Banknell. What might seem like small, ordinary moments will one day form the memories they’ll carry with them long after they leave SPSG.
